Amazon has dropped the price of the Pokémon Deluxe Character Guide to $39.84, a whopping 34% off what it retails for. This is the lowest price we've ever seen on this book, which was released only a month ago.
The latest discount on the book arrives a week before Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale, but unlike other early discounts, it doesn't appear to require an Amazon Prime subscription.
While this is the lowest price we've ever seen on this book, Amazon has been discounting it since before it even came out. IGN covered the preorders for the Deluxe Character Guide and saw it drop down to $41.99 before it officially released on August 25. So while an extra $2 off isn't much, this book is cool enough that any discount is notable — especially with all of the ongoing Pokémon 30th anniversary celebrations in 2026.
What's Inside the Book?
We had the chance to go hands-on with the book earlier this month and loved everything about it. IGN's reviewer, Blythe Dujardin, went into detail about what to expect from the Pokémon character book and there's a lot to love about it. Every single Pokémon gets an entry, alongside stats and everything else you'd find in your Pokédex about them. Some of the more popular Pokémon get quite a bit more, including bits of their history in games, TCG, and the anime.
Should You Wait for Prime Big Deal Days?
With Amazon's October Prime Day sale kicking off on October 6, you may be wondering if you should wait until then to buy this Pokémon Deluxe Character Guide. While it's certainly possible the price could drop further next week, it's fairly unlikely. One of the best times to buy books at a discount is the week before a Prime-exclusive sale because that seems to be when Amazon kicks off most of its book deals.
With that being said, it seems highly possible this book could get a bigger discount in November when Black Friday season rolls around. So if you want to try to save a few more bucks, it's probably worth waiting until then to pull the trigger on this one.
