Rebecca Yarros' Empyrean Series is getting a new addition next week. Threshing Day is set to arrive on September 29.
Yarros announced the new title earlier this year and preorders for the book have been dominating Amazon's best-seller charts since then. Unlike the first three novels in the series, Threshing Day is a collection of short stories detailing the day various characters bonded with their dragons. If you're hoping to pick up a copy as soon as possible, here's the rundown of where to buy and which formats are available.
Where to Buy Hardcovers

There is only one hardcover version of the book releasing on September 29 and it's part of the Wing and Claw collection. That just means it features the stencilled edges other new releases have all gotten.
If you're hoping to pick up a hardcover copy for the lowest possible price, Amazon is the way to go. As the biggest online bookstore in the world, they almost always offer the best deal. Target had also matched that lower price, but preorders have already sold out there ahead of release. The only potential issue with preordering from Amazon is that you won't actually get the book until October. So if you want your copy before then, your best bet is to order a full-price version at Barnes & Noble for in-store pickup.
If you'd prefer a normal hardcover edition of the book, you'll have to wait a bit longer. Barnes & Noble is the only store currently offering preorders for this version and it isn't getting released until October 13.
Threshing Day on Audible
If you prefer to listen to your favorite romantasy series in audiobook form, the good news is the audio version of the book is releasing at the same time as everything else. The overall best deal on the audiobook is at Amazon where you can preorder it for $14.39. You can also get it for free when you sign up for a free trial of an Audible subscription.
There are actually two different audiobooks releasing for this book at different times, the first being of the standard narration variety. If you prefer full-cast audiobooks instead, you can wait for the GraphicAudio version arriving on October 13. Both are eligible for Audible credits or a free trial of the service.
The full cast list has not yet been announced, but we already have an idea of what to expect based on previous GraphicAudio releases of Fourth Wing. In addition to multiple voice actors, the audio experience will include music and sound effects.
Threshing Day on Kindle
For those who prefer to read via their Kindle devices, Threshing Day is also releasing an eBook version on September 29. Other than the audiobook version, this is the quickest way to get access to the book as soon as it releases. You can preorder the book directly from the Kindle Store for $11.99 ahead of its release.
Will It Be Free With Kindle Unlimited?
Although both Fourth Wing and Iron Flame are available to read via a Kindle Unlimited subscription, that has never been the case for new releases in the series. It is highly unlikely that Threshing Day will be included with the subscription anytime soon.
