Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale officially kicks off next week, but there are some early device deals you can check out already. Most notably, Amazon is offering discounts on the latest Kindle models for kids. For a limited time you can get up to $90 off the newest devices.
These discounts aren't as good as what we saw during Prime Day earlier this year, but if you're looking to pick up a solid reading tablet for your kid (or yourself), it's certainly better than paying full price. The overall biggest price cut available now is on the Colorsoft, Amazon's full-color e-ink tablet.
The Kindle Colorsoft has been out for a while now, but the official kids' version of the device wasn't released until July 2025 when Amazon downgraded to the 16GB models. Since it is the 'Kids' version of the tablet, there are some slight differences compared to the standard Colorsoft. Here's a quick rundown of what you get beyond just the device:

What is an Amazon Kids+ subscription?
Amazon Kids+ is essentially Kindle Unlimited, but with a bigger focus on younger kids. The subscription offers access to ad-free books, games, videos, and more, including popular Disney stories and original kids' content. All of the Harry Potter books, Artemis Fowl, and plenty of other top titles for a range of reading levels are included.
Is Now a Good Time to Buy a Kindle?
Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale is generally one of the best times of year to buy a Kindle at a discount. While the official sale is still a week away, these discounts on Kindles right now are likely the best price we'll see on the Kids editions until Black Friday.
That being said, this isn't even close to the biggest discount we've seen on the Colorsoft Kids this year. Amazon dropped the price down to $179.99 back in June for Prime Day, which is $30 cheaper than what it's at now. So while the current discount is okay, it's definitely possible Amazon will have better discounts during Black Friday 2026 if you'd rather wait to buy.
