A new report claims the next Elder Scrolls game will be titled The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel, along with new story details.

According to The Verge, The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel is the title of the highly-anticipated follow-up to Bethesda's Skyrim. This title has been rumored for some time now, but The Verge is putting extra weight behind it. According to the outlet, the game's title could be formally announced as soon as next month, possibly aligned with either Skyrim's 15th anniversary or Xbox's 25th anniversary. The game will reportedly take place in Hammerfell and dive into the history of the titular artifacts, allowing players to discover their secrets firsthand for the first time.

All of this is pretty exciting and shows that the game is likely getting closer to release. While we're not quite sure when to expect The Elder Scrolls 6, it wouldn't be surprising if we hear more details next year ahead of a 2028 release. However, Bethesda does like to wait until its games are close to the finish line to really lay it all out there, so we may be waiting a while before we get raw gameplay.

Since shipping Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6 has become a massive priority and the studio's focus going forward.

Although there is a lot happening in and around Bethesda with future Fallout games, re-releases, and Starfield updates, The Elder Scrolls 6 seems to be taking the bulk of the developer's focus. The only question now is: will it all be worth the long wait?
