Introduction

Want to play Aion 2 seriously, without wasting a single minute? This Aion 2 guide is made for you. It gathers everything that saves time and earns Gear Score, from level 1 all the way to the Ludra raid.

The goal is clear: reach Ludra as fast as possible. It is the most rewarding weekly content in the game. Every week without Ludra means lost resources.

Warning Some values come from the Taiwanese version or pre-launch tests. They may change on the European version.

Key facts to know:

  • Daily reset: 5 AM.
  • Weekly reset: Wednesday.
  • Dungeon groups: 5 players.
  • Ludra: 10-player raid.

The golden rules of tryharding

How do you go fast in Aion 2? Here are the habits that will truly take you to another dimension.

While leveling

  • Autorun with Num Lock: automatic running frees your hands.
  • Set up while running: skills, macros, Daevanions… Configure everything on the move, with autorun or by clicking the quest so your character walks there on its own.
  • Clear each zone before leaving it: when you reach a new zone, do all its Daevanion sources, meaning the Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds.
  • Exploration and side quests: they give lots of Daevanions, so lots of Gear Score. Do them early.
  • Grab every Hidden Cube on your way: they hold very useful resources.
  • Solo dungeons whenever possible, to unlock achievements.
  • Don’t claim leveling dungeon rewards: don’t spend Odyle there.
  • No Shugo events before level 45.

Once you hit level 45

  • Abyss, Altgard and daily quests: they are limited per day or per week. Never miss them: they give tons of AP, essential for what comes next.
  • Reward priority: Abyss Points (AP), then Hidden Keys (depending on their value), then Enhance Stones and Soul Crystals last.
  • Do every green quest and enter enemy territory (Elyos or Asmodian) as soon as it opens: every 3 hours. Details in the Rifts chapter.
  • Do the Shugo events as soon as they are available. Details in the Shugo chapter.

The end goal: Ludra

  • Be logical: every action must raise your Gear Score or your resources.
  • Understand milestones and GS sources: see understanding Gear Score.
  • Your key resources: AP and daily dungeons. The secret is to farm the right resource in the right place.

Chapter 1: tryhard leveling

How long does it take to reach level 45? It depends on your clear speed. As a benchmark: doing as much content as possible, you reach level 45 in 5.5 to 6 hours. Full exploration takes about ten hours.

Optimize your game first

A good tryhard starts with a machine that keeps up.

  • Lower your ping: a good connection and heavy apps closed. Less latency means more damage.
  • Graphics on low: you gain FPS, so smoothness and damage. A smooth rotation means faster skill casts.

Know your class by heart

Before launch, read guides for your class. You need to know what each skill does, why you pick a specialization and in which order you cast.

You will unlock Stigmas during your journey. They are very often the core skills of each class. Equip and upgrade them as soon as possible.

Master the flight technique

Flying nonstop drains your flight stamina. Good players chain boosts instead:

  • V to spread your wings;
  • Shift to dash forward;
  • V again to fold your wings while keeping momentum;
  • repeat in a loop.

Result: you travel faster and your flight stamina recharges between boosts.

Use macros

  • Combat macros: chain your rotation without losing time between skills. In-game macro or mouse macro, both work.
  • The action macro: the trick to skip quest dialogues at full speed. Over hundreds of quests, the time saved is huge.

Setting up the action macro

  • In game: bind two keys to the action (F by default). For example, F as primary key and G as secondary key.
  • In your keyboard software: create a macro that presses F and G, and assign it to the F key in repeat mode.
  • Result: hold F and dialogues fly by.

Make every trip count

Use your scrolls regularly. Speed scrolls are the priority while leveling.

And never stand still to manage your character. Fill your Daevanions, equip new items and upgrade your skills while running. Every minute standing still is a minute lost.

Tip No need to enchant while leveling. Beyond +2 or +3, it is wasted: your items will be replaced quickly. Not upgrading at all is fine.

Chapter 2: priorities at level 45

Level 45 reached: the real game begins. Here is what to do, in order.

Abyss, Altgard and daily quests

These quests are limited per day or per week. A missed quest is lost. They are your main source of AP. Rewards to prioritize in Commands:

PriorityResourceWhy
1Abyss Points (AP)The currency that buys PvP Daevanions, PvP gear and Stigmas
2Hidden KeysDepending on their current value
3Enhance StonesFor enchanting
4Soul CrystalsFor pets’ Genus Insight

Exploration and enemy territory

Finish every green quest in the game. Then cross to the enemy side as soon as a Rift opens and clear everything with the optimized route. It is all explained in the Rifts chapter.

Abyss feathers

Collect all Abyss feathers. They grant Gear Score through PvP Daevanions (Azphel).

Shugo and Nightmare

  • Shugo: they give Daevanions and paintings for the Pantheon. See the paintings to target.
  • Nightmare: fight its bosses every week. They drop a currency spent in their shop, notably on Daevanions.

Ascension Trial

Run it at the highest level possible. Entries are limited: a low-level entry pays less for the same cost.

Season missions, Season Shop and Battle Pass

  • Season missions: complete as many as possible. They give resources and the Season Shop currency.
  • Season Shop: plenty of items to buy, some of them very useful. Details in the Season Shop chapter.
  • Battle Pass (Daeva Pass): it gives lots of Odyle, so more dungeon chests.
Note
Bonus: starting an alt. The key is to start an alt once your first character is done. Rifts stay the priority: level the alt for about 2 hours, then switch back to your main each time a Rift opens.

Another option: level all your characters to 23, then finish your mains one by one. Odyle energy builds up on every character. The risk: spending too much time on alts, missing daily content or progressing too slowly on your main.

Chapter 3: understanding Gear Score

Gear Score (GS, or item level) measures your character’s power. It unlocks dungeons. To progress fast, you need to know where it comes from.

The 4 Gear Score sources

SourceWhere to get it
ArcanasTranscendence dungeons
ItemsDungeons, Abyss, PvP shop
Manastones and SoulstonesDungeons, Ascension Trial, quests
DaevanionsGreen quests, Shugo, Nightmare, Sealed Dungeons (Elyos and Asmodian)

Arcanas and Transcendence

Arcanas come only from Transcendence. Fill your 5 slots: an empty slot gives nothing.

According to Taiwanese leaks (take with a grain of salt), Transcendence starts at 1600 GS and ends at 2500 GS.

LevelGS requiredArcanas obtained
116002 green and 3 grey
219002 blue and 3 green
322002 gold and 3 blue
425005 gold

GS gain per card:

Card qualityGS per card
Grey20
Green40
Blue60
Gold80

Items

Item Gear Score dropped on the European version for almost all low-level items. For example, a PvP item gives 62 GS, versus 67 on the Taiwanese version. The trend reverses for Kromede (Fire Temple) and Ferocious dungeons: their level goes up.

Missing GS? Target the dungeon that drops the piece you lack. Nothing is guaranteed, but every run can give a useful blue or gold item.

  • Missing an accessory? Fire Temple (Kromede) drops them.
  • Missing armor? Run expeditions such as Vakron or Ferocious.
  • Exploration dungeons have a very accessible pity (guaranteed reward): 3 chest openings, i.e. 120 Odyle, guarantee a gold item.
  • The PvP shop sells gear for AP. Prices will be known at launch, but it is a great way to unlock a specific item.
Tip The PvP weapon is probably the best weapon to get early on. Getting the Kromede weapon is very unlikely. For a solid Gear Score, the PvP weapon is a real option.

Manastones and Soulstones

You get them naturally: in dungeons, in the Ascension Trial and through various quests. Each socketed stone adds Gear Score based on its quality:

Stone qualityGS per line
White1
Green2
Blue3
Gold4

A gold item can hold up to 4 Manastone lines, i.e. up to 16 GS per item (4 × 4).

Enchanting

  • Each enchant level (+1, +2, +3…) gives 1 GS.
  • Stop at +10. Up to +10, enchanting succeeds 100% of the time. Beyond that (+11, +12, +13…), it is only a percentage chance.
  • Once all your gear is +10, move on to Prestige. Past +15, each Prestige level (Prestige 1 = +16, up to Prestige 5 = +20) gives 5 GS instead of 1.
  • Usually, aim for Prestige 2 or 3 depending on the item. This is really the part to work on.

Daevanions

They come from green quests, Shugo, Nightmare bosses and Sealed Dungeons of both factions. Details in the Daevanion boards chapter.

Chapter 4: the road to Ludra

Forget fixed routes. Nobody knows exactly what the European version will look like, let alone your own journey. A gold item can drop during your Abyss quests or from an open-world monster and completely change your rush route. Luck matters too.

The right method: run content suited to your Gear Score to reach the next milestone as fast as possible.

Access milestones

ContentAccess GS (approximate)
Krao Cave700
Vakron Sky Island1400
Transcendence level 11600
Transcendence level 21900
Fire Temple and Ferocious Horn Den2100
Transcendence level 32200
Transcendence level 42500
Ludra2800 (2700 on the Taiwanese version, to be confirmed)
Warning These are minimum thresholds. In public groups, players will very likely ask for more.

Progression logic

  • At 1400 GS: enter Vakron as soon as possible. Next goal: Transcendence level 1.
  • At 1600 GS: Transcendence gives you up to 140 GS at once. Then aim for level 2.
  • At 2100 GS: switch to Fire Temple (Kromede items) and Ferocious Horn Den (Nuakum items). You will farm them for a long time.
  • Up to 2800 GS: no more Vakron. Alternate Fire Temple, Ferocious and Transcendence 4 to reach Ludra in the best conditions.

The pity strategy at 2100 GS

Pities (guaranteed rewards) are your best tool to complete a set. Here is the method:

  • Ferocious Exploration: fill the pity (3 chest openings), without claiming it.
  • Ferocious Conquest: complete the full pity. That is 14 dungeons, i.e. 28 chests thanks to the subscription’s x2 opening. Statistically, you get about 4 items.
  • Fire Temple Conquest: same thing, full pity, for accessories (no Exploration here).
  • Keep both Ferocious pities closed. Use them to target the 2 pieces missing from your full Nuakum set, or to pass a milestone at the right time (Ludra for example).
  • Leftover Odyle goes into a 3rd pity on the dungeon where you lack the most pieces. Usually, that is Fire Temple.

Scraping the last GS points

A few points short of a milestone? Here is where to find them:

  • A new item, whatever it is: PvP or PvE, blue or gold, from a dungeon or elsewhere.
  • More Manastones.
  • Enchanting: push gear higher, or into Prestige if needed.
  • PvP Daevanions, bought with your AP.
  • Daevanions from Shugo.
Tip Already hit your farming limit for the day? Wait 1 to 4 days to chain more Shugo on your main. You earn more points and open more Daevanions to pass the next milestone.

Adapt your content to what you are missing.

Endgame enchanting

  • First bring all your Unique items to +10, with a Manastone or Soulstone.
  • Then upgrade one item at a time up to +17 or +18.
  • +17 goes mainly on accessories, weapon and guard.
  • Armor stops at +10: it only gives defense.
Warning Don’t upgrade your class runes past +1. From +2, they can break on failure, costing about 40 ilvl. Don’t invest past Unique on your belt and amulet either: the cost explodes for a small gain.

The full raid guide is here: Sanctuary of Ludra.

Chapter 5: Rifts

Rifts open enemy territory every 3 hours. They let you clear its dungeons and Strongholds. They give Daevanions and lots of AP.

Important Before entering, pick up the 7 Rift quests. Along the route, you must do the Spacerift quests (monster areas to clear). Keep an eye on your minimap so you don’t miss them.

The optimized route (Asmodian side)

Optimized Rift route on the Elyos map

Map made by NeyRha (Twitch.tv/NeyRha_). In my opinion, this route works really well.Spawn1st hour1st hour (if you are fast)2nd hourSpacerift quest

Rules to go fast

  • Skip Strongholds that are off the lines.
  • Open 10 Orb chests in Strongholds (achievement).
  • Collect the flight potions rewarded by Sealed Dungeon achievements.
  • Some Sealed Dungeons are completed by opening a chest or reading a text: go straight to the objective, without killing monsters.
  • Keep 1 or 2 flight potions for the floating island in the west.
  • Use the flight technique to save stamina.

Chapter 6: Shugo

Shugo give Daevanions and Scrap: Artwork, used to craft Pantheon paintings. You don’t choose your rewards: the higher your ranking, the more cards you open. Always aim for first place.

Important Spend your Shugo Tokens on Daevanions first. Paintings come second.

Paintings to target, in order

PriorityShugo gamePainting stats
1Goldrin’s TreasureIllusion, Wisdom
2Jump JumpIllusion, Wisdom
3Nyerk ShooterWisdom, Destiny
4Mysterious TrackWisdom, Destiny
5Wraith EvasionIllusion, Life
6Shugo’s DilemmaIllusion, Destiny
  • Wisdom increases Smite, the strongest stat for DPS.
  • Illusion reduces the cooldown of all your skills. It is very strong at endgame, for every class.

Token math

  • A painting costs 10 Scrap + 10 Crafting Toolbox (50 tokens each, i.e. 500 tokens).
  • A game finished at the top gives on average 200 tokens and about a dozen Scrap.
  • Playing each game 2 to 3 times unlocks achievements: about 145 tokens for 3 achievements.
  • In theory, 3 runs of the same game are enough to get its painting.
Warning
Don’t use a Shugo key if you finish below the top 2. If you don’t take the rewards, the key is not consumed.

Spread or go all in

You can spread your picks over several tiles, or put everything on the same one for a big win. This gamble cuts both ways: early on, spread.

Tip Once all achievements are done, play « Not This Tile ». A collective strategy from the Asian servers lets everyone finish first.

Chapter 7: titles

Titles give permanent stats. No need to chase them: most come naturally while playing. Here are the ones worth it.

Note Titles, the Pantheon and Shugo may still change on the European version. Check in game.

Chapter 8: the Pantheon

The Pantheon boosts your main stats. It holds Colossi, Statues and Paintings. The rule: optimize it constantly, as soon as a new piece is available.

Overall, aim for Destruction, Wisdom and Illusion. To learn what each stat does, watch our video guide (in French): the ultimate Aion 2 stats guide.

  • Colossi to target: Zikel’s Apparition (after defeating Zikel in Nightmare) and Kromede’s Desire (Fire Temple achievements, only available after Hard mode releases).
  • Statues to target: Asahr’s Mirror and Artifact of Eternity (Ascension quests), Kibelisk (all Altgard Kibelisks), Transcendant Bakarma (Draupnir in Conquest).
  • Paintings to target: expedition ones (Krao, Draupnir, Vakron, Fire Temple, Ferocious), Shugo ones, Artisan Alchemist (Alchemist profession) and, long term, Abyssal Ludra.
Note The exact cost of Pantheon pieces will only be visible at launch. No price can be guaranteed for now.

Chapter 9: Daevanion boards

The rule is simple: everything for offense, nothing for defense.

  • Prioritize important skills, important passives and anything that raises your attack.
  • Skip skills and passives that are useless for your build: don’t take them.
  • Defense is not a priority: you don’t really need it.
  • Class guides will show you the best nodes for your character.
Tip No stress: once leveling is done, you will be able to buy every useful node. And boards can be reset as many times as you want.

Chapter 10: the Season Shop

How it works

Season missions give Oath Coins, spent in the Season Shop. They cover every activity: Abyss, Arena, Transcendence, Nightmare, Challenge.

  • Season missions: once per season.
  • Weekly missions: once per week, reset on Wednesday.
  • Each mission also gives trophies, which fill a weekly reward bar.
Weekly Season Shop reward tiers

The tier to aim for is 11,000 trophies: it gives a ticket for Ascension Trial-type content.

Tip Focus on weekly missions. If you already hit 11,000 in week 1, keep your season missions for the following week: you secure the tier for one more week.

Why it is a must

Season Shop items

These materials are mainly used to craft PvE gear (Mind, Will, Ego, Artisan’s Ultimate Refining Stone, Radiant Odyle). Prices are not yet known on the European version. But one thing is certain: they will let you craft plenty of items.

Chapter 11: playing alts

Alts are a bonus, not a must. Here is what they bring:

  • Expeditions your main skips (Krao, Draupnir, Vakron, Urugugu): alts farm them to unlock paintings and wings, then transfer them to the main.
  • Kinah: up to 250,000 per character per week. Buy 50 Silentiums from a General Goods Merchant, drop them in the server storage and sell them with your main.
  • The Season Shop: their biggest benefit. Each character has its own missions, so its own purchases.

Costly mistakes

MistakeWhat it costs
Spending Odyle on weak chestsWeeks of progress
Upgrading class runes past +1Broken rune, about 40 ilvl lost
Pushing belt and amulet past UniqueTens of thousands of Enhance Stones
Skipping regional questsLots of Daevanions, so GS
Enchanting while levelingResources wasted on items replaced quickly
Not optimizing your Pantheon constantlyLost stats
Running the Ascension Trial at low levelFewer rewards for the same entry
Investing everything in a single elementAn unbalanced character and wasted resources
Not using macrosLost time and damage
Forgetting daily or weekly content before resetRewards lost for good

Conclusion

Aion 2 rewards logical and consistent players. Remember five rules:

  • Do side content while leveling, never after.
  • Optimize your game: ping, FPS, macros, flight technique.
  • Know your GS sources and adapt your dungeons to what you lack.
  • Never miss a reset: limited quests, Rifts, season missions, Nightmare.
  • Aim for Ludra as fast as possible: it is the most rewarding content.

This bible will be updated with the final values of the European version. To go further: class tier list and Ludra guide.

FAQ

How long does it take to reach level 45 in Aion 2?

It depends on your clear speed. Doing as much content as possible, expect about 5.5 to 6 hours for level 45, and about ten hours to finish all exploration.

What Gear Score do you need for Ludra?

Aim for 2800 Gear Score (2700 on the Taiwanese version, to be confirmed). From 2100, alternate Fire Temple, Ferocious Horn Den and Transcendence depending on what you lack.

Should you enchant your gear while leveling?

No. Beyond +2 or +3, it is wasted because your items will be replaced quickly. Save your resources for level 45.

How do you gain Gear Score fast?

Combine the 4 sources: Arcanas (Transcendence), items (targeted dungeons, PvP shop), Manastones and Daevanions. Bring your gear to +10, then aim for Prestige 2 or 3: each Prestige level gives 5 GS.

At what level should you start Shugo?

At level 45. Spend your tokens on Daevanions first, then on paintings. Don’t use a key if you finish below the top 2.
