You don't need to pay $150, $100, or even $50 for an excellent PC gaming controller. The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless PC Gaming Controller is already attractively priced at $29.99 and is arguably the best controller at that price point. However, for Prime Day Amazon has dropped the price by another 20% to $23.99. This deal was available in September as well, but at the time only the lavender color was discounted. This time you can also choose among transparent black, peach, mint, and green. I own the Ultimate 2C myself and recommend it to anyone who isn't willing to spend over $50 on a controller.
8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless PC Controller for $23.99
The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C has a lot of premium features you wouldn't expect in a sub-$30 wireless controller. Running down the list, the controller itself feels solid with no rattle and a pleasant grippy matte texture. Both the joysticks and triggers use magnetic Hall Effect switches, which means no moving parts to wear out and no stick drift to contend with. Not even high end controllers like the PlayStation DualSense Edge or the Xbox Elite have Hall Effect switches. The joysticks in particular are also reinforced with metal rings for extra durability.
The Ultimate 2C has extra R4/L4 bumpers that can be custom mapped without needing to download any resource hogging software. Other features include a convenient Turbo button and immersive rumble vibration. The Ultimate 2C supports Bluetooth but a USB dongle is also included that allows for a stable 2.4GHz wireless connection with 1,000Hz polling rate.
Note that this controller is compatible with Windows and Steam PCs and mobile devices (via Bluetooth). It is a perfect controller for your handheld gaming PC like the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally (including Xbox Ally), and Legion Go.
