miHoYo has confirmed that Genshin Impact version 7.0, titled Everwinter Without Mercy, launches August 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM UTC+8 - with maintenance beginning five hours earlier at 6:00 AM UTC+8. Available on PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and mobile, the update delivers Snezhnaya as its newest explorable nation alongside a new combat system and two new playable characters.

Snezhnaya is the seventh nation on Teyvat's map, and the new Archon Quest will further unveil the intricate relationships and tensions between different factions. The region's train-connected settlements and capital city of Snezhnograd anchor a frozen world that the game's main storyline has been building toward. Those following Genshin Impact's recent milestones will find the scale here consistent with how miHoYo has been positioning the game heading into its later years.

What's in Version 7.0

  • New region - Snezhnaya: A frozen nation connected by an extensive train system, anchored by the capital Snezhnograd and home to the Fatui's headquarters. A low-temperature survival mechanic runs throughout, consistent with Dragonspine's cold system.
  • New Archon Quest: The latest Archon Quest gives players a closer look at a catastrophic blizzard and the energy crisis Snezhnaya is facing. Completing the full quest line rewards up to 560 Primogems.
  • New characters: Odette, a 5-star Cryo Sword unit and Fatui operative, headlines the first banner phase alongside a returning Arlecchino. Alyosha, a 4-star Electro Polearm unit who fights with his dog Tugarin, joins the roster in the same phase and can be obtained for free by advancing through the new Archon Quest. The second phase brings back Flins and Ineffa.
  • Cryo Traveler: Resonating with Snezhnaya's Statues of the Seven grants the Traveler Cryo, along with a new weapon - the Exaiphanes Blade - and a new outfit, Hunt in the Snow.
  • New elemental reaction - Stellar Swirl: Combines Anemo and Cryo via a Stellar-Linchpin unit to summon a Stellar Vortex that deals Anemo and Cryo damage. Repeat triggers escalate the Vortex's level before detonation.
  • Third-person shooter mode: The Eye of Graeae device unlocks a TPS layer, introducing three new firearms with elemental interactions and weapon attachments that can be found throughout Snezhnaya.
  • New artifact sets: Scarlet Proof and Heart of the Furnace.
  • New weapons: The 5-star sword Whitelake Frostfeather joins the weapon banner, plus one new forgeable 4-star weapon for each weapon type.

Americas players get the patch on August 11 in their local time zones - Eastern Daylight Time lands at 11:00 PM on the 11th. Standard compensation of 300 Primogems applies for maintenance downtime, with 60 Primogems per additional hour beyond the window.

The TPS mode is the most structurally distinct addition here, and how well it integrates with the existing elemental system will be the real test. miHoYo has a habit of introducing region-specific mechanics that land unevenly - Natlan's Nightsoul system needed several patches to feel cohesive. The Stellar Glimmer reaction family, now expanded with Stellar Swirl, is the other variable to watch; Odette's kit is built around it, so her competitive viability relative to other Cryo carries depends heavily on how that reaction scales in practice.
