Ship of Heroes is shutting its doors, the least surprising news since the last Cher comeback tour. In an announcement posted on the official website, the folks at Heroic Games revealed the servers will be going offline on September 22, the game’s one year anniversary.

Ship of Heroes will be closing on September 22, 2026, the 1 year anniversary of its launch, when the servers go offline. After this date, the game will no longer be accessible. We are grateful to our friendly community who guided development by answering over 220 polls, providing feedback during a dozen free public events and feature tests, and on our website forums.

The news shouldn’t come as any surprise given the title hasn’t broken 100 concurrent players on Steam since…ever. Launching at $60 with a mandatory subscription put Ship of Heroes into a AAA bracket it had no business competing in, with the developers blaming trolls and review bombing for the game’s poor reception.

I would say best of luck to all the Ship of Heroes players on finding a new home, but we all know you’ve been on the City of Heroes private servers since those became public.
