PlayStation has officially announced its upcoming 2026 Black Friday sale. Deals drop on PlayStation Direct at midnight on November 4, with the full sale running until November 30. This marks a significant shift from last year’s strategy, which limited discounts to the week of Black Friday proper.
As for what the deals will actually include? This year’s announcement is pretty slim on the details, simply noting that "you’ll find deep discounts up to 75% off, across thousands of PS5, PS4 and PS VR2 games, expansions, and DLC." You read that right — no mention of consoles, accessories, or even PS Plus memberships.
PlayStation’s 2026 Black Friday Sale Is All About the Games
The announcement offers a sneak peek at what games will go on sale, including some big new releases from 2026. We don't know exactly what the discounts will look like, but you can get a sense of each game by clicking through to IGN's original reviews:
- Marvel's Wolverine
- 007 First Light
- Pragmata
- NBA 2K27
- Astro Bot
- Silent Hill: Townfall
- The Blood of Dawnwalker
- Beast of Reincarnation
Retailers like Best Buy and Amazon have already started dropping early Black Friday deals, where you’ll find even more discounts on older physical PS5 games like God of War Ragnarok and Ghost of Tsushima. Yes, the discs are a touchy subject, I know.
What About Everything Else?
It’s no secret that consoles are ridiculously expensive, so one would hope Black Friday would be the rare time you can get around the current MSRP. Unfortunately, it’s not looking good for PS5 deals in 2026.
Sony has traditionally announced a new PS5 game bundle for Black Friday, with last year’s being Fortnite-themed. This year? No mention of a bundle at all.
In 2025, Sony dropped a $100 discount across consoles, which pretty much cancelled out the PS5 price hike from the month before. In fact, last year Sony announced discounts across its entire hardware line, including $20 off DualSense controllers and $100 off the PSVR2.
This year’s announcement doesn’t include any indication of hardware discounts. That doesn’t mean the deals won’t exist, but it does suggest they won't be as good as last year, or perhaps even haven’t been settled on yet.
The one sign of hope? A little asterisk next to some sale dates.
The PlayStation announcement notes that some discounts will end on November 20 and be replaced with new offers. This date lines up with when Sony launched its full console deals last year, so there’s still a chance we see a 'second wave' of PlayStation Black Friday deals that actually includes some hardware.
Individual retailers like Best Buy or Amazon may also drop some kind of console discount, I just wouldn't expect it to be too hefty.
Sony Already Has Refurbished PS5 Deals
Not all hope is lost if you’re hoping to get your hands on a current-gen console, especially in the lead-up to perhaps the biggest console-exclusive release of all time. (GTA 6, in case that wasn’t clear.) It just might not be brand new.
Sony is currently offering $40 off refurbished PS5 bundles with DualSense controllers. The bundle starts at $518 for the Digital Edition, while the disc-drive model comes to $568.
If you're looking for some extra cash to spend on Black Friday, Sony is offering up to $400 to anyone willing to offload their PS5 console and controllers. It seems we’re in full refurb territory, which likely stems from ongoing stock issues amid RAMageddon.
