Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Day sale, which is essentially just an October version of Prime Day, is now live. I’m happy to report there are plenty of Nintendo deals in the bunch. Well, sort of.
We aren’t seeing too many discounts on first-party Nintendo games, which makes sense coming out of Nintendo’s surprisingly generous “Customer Appreciation” sale. Still, there are some sneaky Pokemon discounts in the mix, alongside plenty of new Switch 2 editions getting their first price drops of the year.
If you want to bulk up your physical Switch 2 library (who doesn’t love that box art?), here's what we'd recommend grabbing in the sale.
Nintendo Switch 2 Games on Sale for Prime Big Deal Day
Note: Most of these deals are exclusive to Prime members. You can sign up for that here.
Starting from the top, we do in fact have a couple of first-party Nintendo games. The main one is $20 off the latest Pokemon release, Legends Z-A, which might not have the most expansive world, but still has plenty of “exciting Pokemon encounters, well-written characters, and amusing side quests” according to our review. We’re also seeing a hefty price cut on Nintendo’s latest sports release, Mario Tennis Fever.
Otherwise, the real winners of October Prime Day are JRPG fans.
Octopath Traveler, which popularized the HD-2D style, is seeing a $20 discount on its most recent release, Octopath Traveler 0. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, a new Square Enix IP in a similar style, has also dropped to its lowest price yet. Dragon Quest fans can secure discounts on recent remakes of the first, second, and seventh games.
You can’t talk about JRPGs without mentioning Final Fantasy VII. If you haven’t gotten the chance to check out the remake trilogy yet, now’s a great time to pick up the Switch 2 editions of both Remake Intergrade and Rebirth on the cheap. I guarantee you even the six-month wait until Revelation isn’t enough time to work through those beasts.
If you’re looking for a more real-time action, you can once again save $20 on Capcom’s newest IP, Pragmata.
Also on the Capcom front, Resident Evil Requiem has dropped to its lowest price since launch. The latest Resident Evil game brings back none other than Leon, pairing him alongside Grace Ashcroft to offer “two separate strains of survival horror.”
While Amazon Prime deals are your best chance to save on physical Switch 2 games, even more discounts are available digitally through the Nintendo Store.
ICYMI: New Switch 2 Bundles and Editions Launching This Month
If you still haven’t gotten your hands on the new Nintendo console, you officially have a couple of options. You have the standalone console, which very recently went up in price by $50. Or you can check out some special editions and bundles.
If you don’t mind waiting a couple of weeks, the Zelda edition Switch 2 is launching alongside the Ocarina of Time remake (still full-price, I’m sorry) on October 29. Or, if you’re incredibly passionate about Nintendo boxing, you can check out the new bundle with Switch Sports Resort launching on October 22.
