GTA 6’s takeover of Miami has begun as we enter the final 2 months before launch.
Anyone flying into Miami International Airport from the ocean will now see a “Welcome to Vice City” and VI sign on top of the Kaseya Center. WPLG Local 10 News got aerial footage of the sign as seen in the image above.
On Tuesday, a helicopter lifted a pink and white sign onto the arena’s roof. Workers assembled parts of the sign on the ground and later put the finishing touches on top of the home of NBA team Miami Heat. The Heat’s first home game of the new season takes place on October 21st so it will no doubt get plenty of coverage then. The sign is expected to remain on the roof until at least the end of December this year.

Personally, I feel like this sign is a bit lacklustre. It just feels a bit below Rockstar’s standards of quality. The text is quite small as well. The sign is about a third of the arena’s width and those metal brackets holding it in place really takes away from the design. Perhaps it lights up at night eventually? That would look really cool but it does not seem to illuminate based on what we have seen so far.
According to documents seen by Miami Herald’s Doug Hanks, Rockstar will be paying $975,000 to the Miami-Dade county for this sign. The cost funds the various staff needed to install the sign and more. For example, emergency services were part of the ground team.
This is just the start of more real world marketing materials showing up in Miami. We should see a significant ramp up around mid to late Octobers per documents. What signs we get next is unknown. Hopefully they look more impressive.
