GTA Online won’t come to GTA 6 until some point next year, 2027. That’s according to the CEO of Twitch who’s had lots of conversations with Rockstar.
Dan Clancy has shared what we all began to suspect. GTA Online 2 (or whatever it will be called) won’t launch until much later after Grand Theft Auto VI has come out. Clancy, who is a polarising figure, spoke with journalists at Tokyo Game Show on Thursday. The often laidback leader told Bloomberg he’s had some meetings with Rockstar and shared everything he could.
As of now, Rockstar have not even mentioned a multiplayer portion of GTA VI. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors on Thursday during the annual shareholders meeting that the current GTA Online will be supported beyond GTA VI’s launch.
Clancy will be privy to some of Rockstar’s plans given the closeness of the two companies in recent years. Rockstar are doing regular Twitch Drops now and there’s even a second GTA RP week taking place at the time of writing. Rockstar and Twitch really do like eachother and stand to benefit from creators and viewers.
The CEO went onto add that he’s not seen anything close to the level of anticipation for this game during his 7 year tenure leading the streaming platform.

The often laidback leader told Bloomberg he’s had some meetings with Rockstar and shared everything he could.
“We spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans, and also helping them think about how they can engage our creators. You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.”

“GTA VI is a singleplayer title and is due to release this November. We will continue to support GTA Online after GTA VI release and beyond.”

“It absolutely will [GTA VI and GTA Online 2] spike the overall viewership meaningfully. How much I have no idea.”
