GTA 6 marketing is about to ramp up in the real real world. Miami Beach has agreed to let Rockstar place huge advertisements ahead of the game’s launch. This comes after Miami-Dade officials pushed back against working with Rockstar and “glorifying” violence against police.

In terms of scale, they could be larger than 5000 square feet and cost Rockstar/Take-Two $208,000 a piece. These are signage privileges only typically given to events such as the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. These signs will be more subtle focusing on the “VI” and “Vice City” typography on things such as beach umbrellas but won’t appear on certain buildings and landmarks.

As spotted by @DeekeTweak, documents confirms the Miami Beach City Commission has voted 4-3 in favour of letting Rockstar pay to place large billboards and more for Grand Theft Auto VI’s release. The signage can begin going up on October 15th but must be removed on/by December 31st. Downtown Miami will hold a vote soon too.

The only area that will feature the advertisements approved by Miami beach is in Downtown Miami between Northeast 5th Street on the North, the Miami River on the South, Biscayne Bay on the East, and Northeast 2nd Avenue on the West.

During the meeting that led to the passing of such marketing, it was said by one official they will be paid something close to $4 million by Rockstar. The final plans are still set to be negotiated on with Rockstar. Meanwhile another official pushed back arguing the game should not be marketed in the city due to violence against police officers.

GTA VI prominently features the fictional “Vice City” and a fictional South Florida-inspired environment having a unique and internationally recognized cultural association with Miami and South Florida.

The release of GTA VI is anticipated to generate substantial national and international media, consumer, entertainment, and cultural attention and presents an opportunity to further highlight Miami as an international center for entertainment, technology, media, tourism, and creative industries.

Promotional activities associated with the GTA VI release are anticipated to occur before, during, and immediately following the worldwide release date.

Temporary banners, building wraps, and related promotional displays associated with GTA VI within Downtown Miami would further enhance the visibility and public experience associated with the promotional and release period.
