Halo: The Fall of Reach was first released back in 2001, launching a couple weeks before the first Halo game came out in November of that year. Serving as the official prequel to the series, Eric Nylund's novel tells the story of how Master Chief came to be and what led to the events of Halo: Combat Evolved.

Since the book's original release 25 years ago, it has received several revised versions and editions. And now for the first time ever, it's getting the full-cast audio treatment thanks to Simon & Schuster Audio. You can check out IGN's exclusive audio clip for an idea of what to expect.

The full-cast audiobook is set to release on November 10, 2026 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Halo franchise. The voice cast includes Steve Downes and Jen Taylor reprising their roles as Master Chief and Cortana. It also includes an immersive sound experience that integrates things like the Halo theme song and the ridiculous sounds of Grunts running away terrified. Here's the official story description from the publisher page:

"The twenty-sixth century. Humanity has expanded beyond Earth’s system to hundreds of planets that colonists now call home. But the United Earth Government and the United Nations Space Command is struggling to control this vast empire. After exhausting all strategies to keep seething colonial insurrections from exploding into a full-blown interplanetary civil war, the UNSC has one last hope. At the Office of Naval Intelligence, Dr. Catherine Halsey has been hard at work on a top-secret program that could bring an end to the conflict…and it starts with seventy-five children, among them a six-year-old boy named John. And Halsey could never guess that this child will eventually become the final hope against an even greater peril engulfing the galaxy—the inexorable confrontation with a theocratic military alliance of alien races known as the Covenant."

Audible has also recently launched a new promotion for the fall that gets you the first four months of the service for only 99 cents per month. Considering this book doesn't come out until November, that's a great option if you want to get access to some of the best audiobooks before this title officially releases.
