Daybreak Games and community partner Game Jawn have launched EverQuest Legends - a standalone, subscription-based reimagining of 1999 EverQuest on PC - with servers opening in stages at noon PDT to manage demand that, according to the team, exceeded expectations at the gate.

Executive producer David "Sysyphus" Youssefi shared a launch letter confirming several features that made the cut in final development, including the playable Kerran race and 4K UI scaling. The team previewed these additions alongside a roadmap peek at the "From 1999 to EverQuest Legends" panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and has since released the full panel recording for those who missed it.

What's Available at Launch

  • Business model: $19.99 box price with a $9.99/month subscription after the first included month; cosmetic-only microtransactions with Krono explicitly excluded
  • Playable races: 15 at launch, including the original 12 EverQuest races plus Kerran, Iksar, and Froglok in the original 1999 art style
  • Group and raid structure: All zones fully instanced; groups capped at 4, raids at 8, with adjustable difficulty tiers tied to personal loot scaling
  • Multiclass system: Three-class multiclassing across 16 base classes, with roughly 560 possible combinations; primary class locks at level 11
  • Launch content: Pre-Kunark world covering Antonica, Faydwer, and Odus, including Plane of Hate and Plane of Fear
  • Modern conveniences: Player housing, 4K UI scaling, loadouts, and anti-multiboxing enforcement

The full roadmap was not yet live on the official site at launch, though the SDCC panel covers much of what's planned. The team confirmed it would publish the document the same day. For players weighing the monetization structure and cash shop details ahead of subscribing, that context is worth reviewing alongside the launch state.

Server capacity is being monitored in real time, with the team prepared to expand infrastructure as needed. Post-launch priorities indicated in community materials include Plane of Sky content, solo raid instances, and further multiclass tuning - positioning Legends for a steady content cadence rather than a one-and-done nostalgia drop.
