Blackpink’s Jisoo has confirmed that she referenced Resident Evil’s Ada Wong in the music video for her solo song, Addicted.

The song debuted over Halloween weekend, with its accompanying music video showing Jisoo wearing a variety of different looks. One of these outfits, however, struck a chord with certain members of her fanbase due to how startlingly similar it looked to a character from Resident Evil.

At the beginning of the music video, Jisoo wears a black bob and a red bodycon-style dress — a look that’s basically synonymous with Ada Wong, who almost always wears some variation of this style in each game she appears in.

Fans couldn’t help but notice the similarities and asked the K-pop star if this was intentional on her very own app. “Red outfit + short hair look is totally Ada Wong from Resident Evil,” one wrote.

Surprisingly, Jisoo confirmed that this was actually intentional. "I love Biohazard (Resident Evil) sooo much, so I wanted to copy it,” she said in a reply.

Jisoo is open about her love for Resident Evil; she spoke about the series on Hot Ones earlier this year, saying she was “addicted” to the games.

“It’s fast-paced,” she explained. “Something will suddenly pop out at you, so you have to be quick and process it all and take care of the situation. That’s why it’s able to hold my attention, and time just flies right by.”

Funnily enough, Jisoo isn’t the only K-pop star to draw comparisons with Ada Wong recently; in August, Babymonster’s Asa received similar comments from fans after she posted photos of herself on social media wearing a black bob and a red dress, sparking a cute portmanteau of ‘Asa Wong’ from her fanbase.

While Asa hasn’t yet responded to these remarks, Jisoo is an unabashed fan of the games, to the point where she made sure Ada was somehow represented in her latest song.

In other Resident Evil news, Zach Cregger, who directed the series’ most recent movie adaptation, said he would still like to be involved in some way if a sequel gets made, though not as a director. Thus far, it’s unclear whether or not another Resi movie is in the works, but given that Capcom has doubled down on its plans to continue expanding its IP with merch, new content, and movies, it’s possible that we get another look at Raccoon City — especially given how successful the first film was at the box office.
